What is our Mentorship Program?
It allows students to be paired with industry leaders within their area of interest for a semester long experience. This program gives students the opportunity to explore the ‘real world’ before graduation and guides them to the correct career path.
Objective
The objective of the Finance Department Mentorship Program is to give students the opportunity to meet industry professionals who are willing to share their knowledge, experience and advice to help students make better career choices. Additionally, the program seeks to foster relationships with the employer community to provide students with an insight into the world of work and to help prepare them for successful careers.
How the Program Works?
Based on students' interest areas and available mentors, a mentor will be paired with a student who interests match the mentor’s professional area. Or, perhaps a student who just wants to know what a mentor’s job entails to enable them to better prepared to make decisions about future employment in the Finance industry.
Who Benefits?
Students benefit from the real-world experience and a new awareness of their strengths in the workplace. Mentoring allows students to test classroom theory under the constraints and to understand more of a particular field in the Finance industry.
Mentors benefit from the opportunity to give back to the industry and support higher education for young professionals entering the industry. Students bring a fresh perspective with a bright, eager, and capable young mind. The program provides the chance to recruit motivated individuals who have expressed an interest in the field and learning more about it.
